Update: Baby, Food, Sewing, Work…

Okay, so I have been away for awhile. Well, I’m still around just not blogging. I thought I would update y’all with what I have been up to…

For starters, my sweet baby is 9 months already. I have taken a very different approach with my this one. I have already nursed him longer than I did with my first two babies. As well as, waiting longer to introduce food, he was 8 months old. Another big difference is that I have only used cloth diapers since he was just 4 weeks old and I absolutely love them. I know it is not for everyone and it was never an option with my first two, where my mind set back then was “Ew, gross!!“. I stumbled across them at Target last year when they were clearancing out the Charlie Banana cloth diapers they carried, no longer available in stores. As I was contemplating getting them, a lady came up to get a pack and was telling me about them. I was thinking more along the lines of convenience and saving money. And the thought of just throwing them in the wash machine versus going to the store with three kids in tow sounded much better. After purchasing them and going to the Charlie Banana website to learn more about them, they talked about so many benefits!! It was love at first bubble butt diaper bum. :P Recently, I switched to the Charlie Banana cloth wipes as well. Yep, I’m going green…

Another major change we have done is with our food. I use to coupon a lot for our food items. If you are familiar with couponing for food, a lot of the items are highly processed and include ingredients I cannot even pronounce. My husband and I have been looking into our food supply and have not been thrilled with what we are finding out. I’m not much of a cook but have started cooking from scratch with better ingredients. Since I have switched our diet from processed foods to cleaner ingredients, we feel so much better mentally and physically. On occasion we go out to eat and end up feeling bloated and disgusting. This has been a difficult change for us, since we have become so accustomed to convenience food without much planning involved. I now plan out our weekly menu and shop accordingly. There are so many great bloggers out there that have tips on planning meals, cooking homemade meals and so much more.  If I can do it, so can you! :)

Okay, next topic is sewing… I bought myself a sewing machine on sale (of course!) last year for Mother’s Day. It has sat there intimidating me for months. In the meantime I have been collecting fabric. Well, good news, I started a basic sewing class a few weeks ago and have decided to overcome my fear. So far, I have sewn 18″ doll pajamas (still working on the top!), which turned out alright for no pattern. I’m currently working on flannel pajama bottoms for my daughters in the sewing class. And one of my favorite projects are scarves, you know, the super cute infinity scarfs! Check out the one I just completed. It has super cute olive green fabric with little brown moose on it matched up with the white and brown chevron pattern and I added a cute knot detail. Please, don’t pay attention to my disheveled hair and messy makeup. It was eight o’clock at night when I had the hubs take the picture of me trying out the scarf….

My New Hobby

Alright, one more thing. I am a stay-at-home-mom and love it, however as you can see I am not complacent without having a hobby. It use to be blogging on the side which has changed a lot since I first started my site. Well, my sister recently tried out a product that has changed her life. It is so amazing she has started selling it. It is set up like Mary Kay, Thirty One or Pampered Chef, you know the home based business models. After talking with her more about the product, I quickly realized how much it falls in line with the lifestyle changes we have already made and I wanted to start selling it as well. I love the product line! It’s called It Works and yes it really does work. My sister did the wrap and you have got to see her before and after pictures. Keep in mind she just had her 8th baby a few months ago.
